MINUTES 1 <br /> CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br /> August 21, 2012 <br /> CALL TO ORDER <br /> Vice-Mayor Thorne called the regular meeting to order at the hour of 7:00 p.m. Councilmember Cook- <br /> Kallio lead the Pledge of Allegiance and provided introductory remarks. <br /> ROLL CALL <br /> Present: Councilmembers Cook-Kallio, McGovern, Sullivan, Vice-Mayor Thorne <br /> Absent: Mayor Hosterman <br /> AGENDA AMENDMENTS <br /> City Manager Fialho stated that with regard to Item 9, approval of the formation of a 12-member Parks <br /> and Recreation Master Plan Steering Committee, staff is recommending the addition of two at-large <br /> representatives. Specifically, the recommendation is to add two parents with children in Pleasanton <br /> elementary, middle and/or high schools to provide representation for each of those three categories. <br /> He stated that Item 11, Adopt East Bay Economic Development Alliance's 'Open for Business' Pledge, <br /> is continued to a future meeting. <br /> He provided clarification on Item 12, adoption of Resolution No. 12-589 to revise the City's Economic <br /> Vitality Committee membership, stating that the staff report's discussion of the "environmental industry" <br /> refers to both "green economy" and "environmental industry." Specifically, they are seeking <br /> representation from individuals generally involved in these sectors through solar powered companies, <br /> sustainable products manufacturing, or likeminded industries. <br /> CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> Administrative Services <br /> 1. Approved regular meeting minutes of July 17, 2012 <br /> City Manager <br /> 2. Adopted Resolution 12-588 adopting the proposed changes to the Tri-Valley Community <br /> Television Corporation By-Laws to reflect the current member cities and Board of Directors, and <br /> supplemental appropriation of $33,308 <br /> Councilmember McGovern said she had asked staff to confirm that, with this agreement, the League of <br /> Women Voters would retain the ability to continue their forums on the upcoming election and that they <br /> would be able to do so on a weekly basis at minimum. <br /> Mr. Fialho explained that the By-Laws do not limit the City's ability to allow the League to televise <br /> forums to the community. He further stated that staff spoke with League arid that their board is <br /> scheduled to consider whether to continue to do so for the Pleasanton and the Tri-Valley area in <br /> general. <br /> 3. Accepted the report of Commissioner Absences for the period of January 1 through June 30, <br /> 2012 <br />
