RESOLUTION NO. 12-559 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> CONCERNING THE ECONOMIC VITALITY COMMITTEE <br /> WHEREAS, at its meeting of August 21, 2012, the City Council received the report from <br /> the Economic Development Director regarding suggested changes to the membership of the <br /> Economic Vitality Committee. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> PLEASANTON DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER THE FOLLOWING: <br /> SECTION 1: Resolution No 08-214 is hereby rescinded. <br /> SECTION 2: The City Council does herby establish the Economic Vitality Committee <br /> which shall serve as follows: <br /> a. The mission of the Economic Vitality Committee shall be to assess the current <br /> and ongoing business climate in the City of Pleasanton and to offer suggestions <br /> and submit recommendations to the City Council intended to maintain a strong <br /> economic base in the city. <br /> b. The Committee will focus on general trends, issues and governmental processes <br /> in an attempt to identify opportunities to assist and promote economic vitality in <br /> the City of Pleasanton. <br /> c. The Committee's role in retaining and attracting business is limited to providing <br /> general information regarding available resources within the business community <br /> and governmental agencies which may be beneficial toward attracting new <br /> businesses to the community and/or retaining existing businesses. Unless <br /> otherwise directed by the City Council, the Committee shall not engage in any <br /> negotiations relative to the relaxation, expansion or modification of any City <br /> regulations, fees, or services. <br /> d. The Committee shall recommend to the City Council the general types of <br /> business and/or markets that would be beneficial to the overall economic <br /> condition of the city. The City Council shall take this information into <br /> consideration when determining active attraction and retention efforts by the <br /> Economic Development Director. <br /> SECTION 3: The Economic Vitality Committee shall have one representative from <br /> each of the following groups. The members shall serve without compensation. Members shall <br /> be reimbursed for appropriate expenses incurred when attending conferences if budgeted and <br /> approved by the City Council. <br /> 1. Chamber of Commerce — A representative recommended by the board of <br /> directors of the Chamber of Commerce whose membership in the <br /> organization is expected to be at least two years from the time of the <br /> appointment to the Committee. <br />
