RESOLUTION NO. 12-559 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON CONCERNING THE ECONOMIC VITALITY COMMITTEE WHEREAS, at its meeting of August 21, 2012, the City Council received the report from the Economic Development Director regarding suggested changes to the membership of the Economic Vitality Committee. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER THE FOLLOWING: SECTION 1: Resolution No 08-214 is hereby rescinded. SECTION 2: The City Council does herby establish the Economic Vitality Committee which shall serve as follows: a. The mission of the Economic Vitality Committee shall be to assess the current and ongoing business climate in the City of Pleasanton and to offer suggestions and submit recommendations to the City Council intended to maintain a strong economic base in the city. b. The Committee will focus on general trends, issues and governmental processes in an attempt to identify opportunities to assist and promote economic vitality in the City of Pleasanton. c. The Committee's role in retaining and attracting business is limited to providing general information regarding available resources within the business community and governmental agencies which may be beneficial toward attracting new businesses to the community and/or retaining existing businesses. Unless otherwise directed by the City Council, the Committee shall not engage in any negotiations relative to the relaxation, expansion or modification of any City regulations, fees, or services. d. The Committee shall recommend to the City Council the general types of business and/or markets that would be beneficial to the overall economic condition of the city. The City Council shall take this information into consideration when determining active attraction and retention efforts by the Economic Development Director. SECTION 3: The Economic Vitality Committee shall have one representative from each of the following groups. The members shall serve without compensation. Members shall be reimbursed for appropriate expenses incurred when attending conferences if budgeted and approved by the City Council. 1. Chamber of Commerce — A representative recommended by the board of directors of the Chamber of Commerce whose membership in the organization is expected to be at least two years from the time of the appointment to the Committee.
