Resolution amending the regulations for candidate statements to include additional required languages, <br /> as recommended by staff. Motion failed. <br /> SUBSTITUTE MOTION: It was m/s by McGovern/Cook-Kallio to waived full reading and adopt <br /> Resolution No. 12-552 calling the November 6, 2012 General Municipal Election; Resolution No. 12- <br /> 553 requesting consolidation with the Statewide General Election; and Resolution No. 12-554 <br /> amending the regulations for candidate statements to include additional required languages, including <br /> an additional amendment requiring candidates pay a deposit in the amount of 50% of the estimated <br /> cost for printing a statement, with any balance due payable following the election. Motion passed by the <br /> following vote. <br /> Ayes: Councilmembers Cook-Kallio, McGovern, Thorne <br /> Noes: Mayor Hosterman <br /> Absent: Councilmember Sullivan <br /> Councilmember Cook-Kallio expressed concern that the City may be unable to collect the outstanding <br /> balance, particularly if the candidate is not elected. <br /> Ms. Diaz confirmed that the $25 filing fee, which already exists in the City's fee resolution, is payable <br /> upon the submission of nomination papers. <br /> MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCIL - None <br /> COUNCIL REPORTS - None <br /> ADJOURNMENT <br /> There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 9:25 p.m. The Council extended a <br /> tribute to our nation's men and women serving in the military.
