I~ T~ CIT~ ¢0U~IL OF TfiE CITY OF PLFASANT0~ <br /> <br /> COUNT~ OF ALAI~A)A~ STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2725 <br /> <br />Urging Adoption of State Depart~nent <br />of Water Resources Proposed Budget, <br />Including South Bay Aqueduct Project <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Pleasanton has lon~ advocated <br />and urged State help to develop ~rater resources and import ~ater into <br />Alameda County; and <br /> <br /> ~2~EAS, there is an urgent need throughout Cal£fornia for an agreement <br />on an aggressive, thorough and equitable ~ater policy; and <br /> <br /> ~EAS, the City Council has complete faith and confidence in the State <br />Department of Water Resources, its director Mr. Harvey Oo Banks, and its <br />staff in their proposed budget for i~mediate improvements; <br /> <br /> NO~ THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED as follows: <br /> <br /> 1) The City Council does urge its elected representatives and <br /> appointed officers to consider with favor the Department <br /> of Water Resources proposed budget of approximately <br /> $71,000,000 for State-wide capital improvements and <br /> operation budget for the fiscal year 1958-1959, <br /> <br /> 2) The City Council particularly urges approval of expendi- <br /> of $11,000,000 for the South Bay Aqueduct to serve <br /> southern and eastern Alameda County and southern Contra <br /> Costa County, to provide for right-of-ways and a tun- <br /> nel through Brushy Peak, bringing surplus waters into <br /> these areas. <br /> <br /> 3) The continued growth and development of these areas <br /> <br /> require immediate actimby the State of California. <br /> <br /> PASSED AND ADOPTED this 3rd day of March, 1958. <br /> <br />Mayor <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />City C]j~rk <br /> <br /> <br />
