Attachment 1 <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 12- <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> PLEASANTON ADOPTING THE MODIFIED BAY-FRIENDLY BASICS <br /> LANDSCAPE REQUIREMENTS ESTABLISHED BY STOPWASTE.ORG <br /> FOR RECEIPT OF WASTE IMPORT MITIGATION FUNDING <br /> WHEREAS, in FY 2007/2008, the Alameda County Waste Management Authority <br /> adopted guidelines for use of Waste Import Mitigation funding which encourage the use of <br /> its Bay-Friendly Landscape Guidelines program; and <br /> WHEREAS, in April 2008, the City of Pleasanton adopted the Bay-Friendly <br /> Landscape requirements as a means of incorporating the Alameda County Waste <br /> Management Authority Bay-Friendly Landscape Guidelines with City landscape projects; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, in September 2009, the California State Legislature passed the Model <br /> Water Efficient Landscape Ordinance, which applies as the City's Water Efficient <br /> Landscape Ordinance in accordance with State law; and <br /> WHEREAS, in October 2011, StopWaste.org approved a new set of guidelines for <br /> use of Waste Import Mitigation funding; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton is currently in compliance with these <br /> requirements with the exception of adopting the modified Bay-Friendly Basics landscape <br /> requirements, which are applicable to the same landscape projects that fall under the <br /> City's Water Efficient Landscape Ordinance; and <br /> WHEREAS, the use of Bay-Friendly Basics landscape guidelines can have a <br /> significant positive effect on energy consumption, water and resource efficiency, and <br /> wildlife habitat and may result in significant cost-savings over time; and <br /> WHEREAS, requiring City projects and public-private partnerships to incorporate <br /> the Bay-Friendly Basics guidelines is appropriate for achieving its benefits. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> PLEASANTON DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE, AND ORDER THE <br /> FOLLOWING: <br /> SECTION 1. Adopt the Bay-Friendly Basics landscape requirements in <br /> conjunction with the City's current State legislative-mandated Water Efficient Landscape <br /> Ordinance. <br /> SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this resolution and <br /> enter it into the book of original resolutions. <br /> PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of <br /> Pleasanton at a regular meeting held on June 19, 2012. <br /> 1 <br />
