THE CITY OF 15 <br /> R "' CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> pLE ASANTON, <br /> June 19, 2012 <br /> Operations Services <br /> TITLE: ADOPTION OF BAY FRIENDLY BASICS LANDSCAPE REQUIREMENTS <br /> ESTABLISHED BY STOPWASTE.ORG FOR RECEIPT OF WASTE <br /> IMPORT MITIGATION FUNDING <br /> SUMMARY <br /> The Source Reduction and Recycling Board and the Alameda County Waste <br /> Management Authority, operating collectively as Stopwaste.org, has requested the City <br /> of Pleasanton adopt the modified "Bay Friendly Basics" landscape requirements in <br /> conjunction with the City's current State legislative mandated Water Efficient Landscape <br /> Ordinance (effective January 1, 2010), in order to receive the City's final share of Import <br /> Mitigation Funding (IM Funding) for fiscal year 2011/2012.These requirements would <br /> apply to all new construction and rehabilitation of public and private landscapes of 2,500 <br /> square feet of irrigated area or greater that require a permit, plan check or design <br /> review. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Staff recommends City Council approves the adoption of the Bay Friendly Basics <br /> landscape requirements in conjunction with the Water Efficient Landscape Ordinance, <br /> which would qualify the City to receive the final year of IM Funding. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> The City would receive $68,868 of IM Fund disbursement for fiscal year 2011/2012 from <br /> the Alameda County Waste Management Authority by the adoption of the Bay Friendly <br /> Basics landscape requirements. <br />
