THE CITY OF 11
# ° ° me. "" CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
pL EASANTONa
June 19, 2012
Community Development
Planning
TITLE: RATIFICATION OF THE APPROVAL OF THE AWARDING OF A
PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH ARCHITECTURAL
RESOURCES GROUP FOR SERVICES IN THE AMOUNT OF $24,900 FOR
THE PREPARATION OF A LOCAL HISTORIC CONTEXT STATEMENT
SUMMARY
The focus of the Historic Preservation Task Force is to revisit selected sections of the
Downtown Specific Plan and associated Downtown Design Guidelines. The Historic
Preservation Task Force is reviewing the current Downtown Specific Plan and Design
Guidelines and will be making recommendations to the City Council to help clarify City
policy on historic preservation and development review processes in the Historic
Downtown and other areas within the City.
Staff is requesting ratification of a Professional Services Agreement with Architectural
Resources Group to prepare a Local Historic Context document. The document is
intended to articulate what physical features on the structures in our historic
neighborhoods are important to the City's history. The Local Historic Context Statement
will assist in future determinations of what physical components of our built environment
are important to Pleasanton, rather than relying solely on criteria provided by the State.
Within the scope of this contract there is work that is required to be done prior to the
completion of the Historic Preservation Task Force, therefore it was necessary for the
City Manager to award the project in May. Staff recommends that City Council ratify the
approval of the contract with Architectural Resources Group for the preparation of the
Local Historic Context Statement, in the amount of$24,900.
RECOMMENDATION
1. Ratify the award of the Professional Services Agreement to Architectural
Resources Group for the preparation of the Local Historic Context Statement, in
the amount of $24,900.
2. Authorize the City Manager to enter into the above noted Professional Services
Agreement with Architectural Resources Group.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
The cost of $24,900 (contract amount) will be funded from the Professional Services
line item in the Planning Division budget.
