10 <br /> THE CITY OF <br /> -- "" CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> pL£ASANTONs <br /> May 15, 2012 <br /> Economic Development <br /> TITLE: APPROVAL OF FINANCIAL PARTICIPATION IN i-GATE INNOVATION <br /> HUB FOR FISCAL YEAR 2012-2013 <br /> SUMMARY <br /> In 2010, the Innovation for Green Advanced Transportation Excellence (i-GATE) <br /> initiative was implemented when i-GATE was formally designated as an Innovation Hub <br /> (iHub) by the California Governor's Office of Economic Development. i-GATE is a <br /> public-private partnership of municipalities, educational institutions, business <br /> organizations and companies aimed at bringing technology out of Lawrence Livermore <br /> and Sandia National Laboratories to the commercial market. <br /> To create a sustainable operational model for i-GATE, a budget based on financial <br /> support from municipal partners and corporate contributions has been developed. <br /> Those cities that have an interest in continued participation in the i-GATE initiative are <br /> now asked to determine their level of support. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Approve the City of Pleasanton's participation in the i-GATE initiative at the Municipal <br /> Board Member level for the Fiscal Year 2012-2013. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> Funding for the City's $25,000 participation will be allocated to the General Government <br /> Program as part of the mid-term update to the City's FY2012-2013 budget. <br />
