CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 91-117 <br /> RESOLUTION REQUESTING CALTRANS TO CHANGE <br /> COLOR, STYLE AND FORM OF THE SOUNDWALLS ALONG <br /> I-680 IN THE SAN RAMON VALLEY <br /> WHEREAS, two new lanes of traffic are scheduled to be added to the <br /> 1-680 freeway in the San Ramon Valley; and <br /> WHEREAS, studies regarding present an future noise levels on the <br /> freeway have been made; and <br /> WHEREAS, soundwalls designed to mitigate unacceptable noise levels <br /> have been planned at several locations along I-680; and <br /> WHEREAS, although Caltrans has consulted with citizen committees <br /> and city and town representatives regarding the walls, <br /> the "temporary" tilt-up walls are unacceptable to the <br /> community; and <br /> WHEREAS, the walls have met with widespread criticism; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES <br /> AS FOLLOWS: <br /> Section 1: The City Council of the City of Pleasanton, a city in <br /> the Tri-Valley area of Contra Costa and Alameda counties, <br /> requests that the California Department of Transportation <br /> work with the surrounding communities to find more <br /> acceptable solutions. <br /> Section 2 : The City Council hereby also requests the California <br /> Department of Transportation work to achieve agreement <br /> with local communities prior to construction of new <br /> projects in the area in the future. <br />
