ATTACHMENT 5
THE CITY OF
Housing Commission
Minutes
pLEASANTON. Minutes
City Council Chambers, 200 Old Bernal Ave., Pleasanton, CA
February 16, 2012
7:00 p.m.
MATTERS BEFORE THE COMMISSION
7. Confirmation of November 2011 Housing Commission Vote on the Concept to Merge the
Housing and Human Services Commissions
Mr. Bocian advised that at the January 2012 meeting the Commission indicated they felt the
action taken at their November 17, 2011, meeting concerning the potential merging of the
Human Services and Housing Commissions did not accurately express the intent of the
Commission regarding the matter. It was felt that the matter should be further discussed and
clarified. Staff at that time suggested the matter be placed on a future meeting agenda so the
Commission could take appropriate action and restate the motion if desired. The Commission
was advised by Mr. Bocian that staff would prepare a report for City Council within 60 days to
clearly convey the intent of the Commission regarding this matter.
Commissioner Casey thanked staff and members of the Commission for indulging him in this
request and indicated his reasons for having the vote restated so that it would show the clear
intent of this Commission to the City Council.
A motion was made by Commissioner Casey, seconded by Commissioner Mermelstein, stating
that the Housing Commission opposes the proposed merger of the Housing Commission with
the Human Services Commission and believes it should remain a separate Commission.
ROLL CALL VOTE:
AYES: Commissioners Casey, Lopez, Mermelstein, and Chairperson Probed.
NOES: None
ABSENT: Commissioner Welsh
ABSTAIN: None
Page - 1 -
