Commissioner Wilson thought the Housing Commission was going to be kept busy with the
Housing Element, which is something for which he has no background, so his vote would be
against merging the two commissions.
Commissioner Nagler felt there would be a lost opportunity by not merging the two commissions
and a viable reason to support such a merger is that it would provide an opportunity to leverage
funds and opportunities. He then agreed with the comments of his fellow Commissioners in not
supporting a merger of the two Commissions.
A motion was made by Commissioner Nagler, seconded by Commissioner Roby, stating that the
Human Services Commission does not endorse the merger of the Human Services and Housing
Commissions, and that the Commission would like to explore options that would allow the two
Commissions to work together in a more formal manner, especially in optimizing
recommendations regarding the allocation of grant funds to the City Council.
ROLL CALL VOTE:
AYES: Commissioners Berger, Lambert, Nagler, Roby, Wilson, Wright, and Chairperson
Rowland.
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None
Mr. Bocian thanked the Commission for their response and advised that additional information
on this matter may still be provided pertaining to disadvantages and the loss of expertise and
momentum.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 9:05 p.m.
Human Services Commission Minutes
February 1, 2012
Page 3
