Chapter 2.38 HOUSING COMMISSION Page 1 of 3 <br /> Pleasanton Municipal Code <br /> Up Previous Next Main Collapse Search Print No Frames <br /> Title 2 ADMINISTRATION AND PERSONNEL <br /> Chapter 2.38 HOUSING COMMISSION <br /> Note <br /> * Prior ordinance history:Ords. 1674, 1768. <br /> 2.38.010 Commission created. <br /> There is created a housing commission (commission). (Ord. 1819 § 1, 2001) <br /> 2.38.020 Duties. <br /> A. The commission shall be responsible for advising the city council on both the affordable housing needs of the <br /> community and the methods for meeting these needs. <br /> B. The duties of the commission shall include the following: <br /> 1. Initiate and pursue opportunities for developing affordable housing within the city. <br /> 2. Cooperate with the private housing industry, city commissions and regional agencies to produce new affordable <br /> housing and/or to maintain existing affordable housing. <br /> 3. Make recommendations to the city council and/or establish policies regarding affordable housing projects affiliated <br /> with the city and the housing authority including preference and eligibility criteria for city assisted housing, informational <br /> documents, available grant applications, and new affordable housing programs. <br /> 4. In cooperation with the human services commission, review and make recommendations to the city council <br /> regarding community development block grant applications for capital improvement and rehabilitation projects. <br /> 5. Coordinate the property and financial management and tenant related issues at affordable housing projects under the <br /> control of the city and/or the housing authority of the city, including Ridge View commons and Kottinger place. <br /> 6. Review and make recommendations to the city council regarding the annual operating budget for the city's lower <br /> income housing fund. <br /> 7. Appoint the resident representatives to the housing authority commission and commission liaisons to affordable <br /> housing projects. (Ord. 1819 § 1, 2001) <br /> 2.38.030 Membership; appointments; voting. <br /> A. The commission shall have five members, and one alternate, all of whom shall be residents of the city. <br /> B. The five regular commissioners and the one alternate commissioner shall be selected from the community at large. <br /> The regular commissioners and alternate commissioner shall be appointed by the mayor subject to the ratification by the city <br /> council, as provided in the adopted city council resolution establishing procedures for appointments to boards and commissions. <br /> C. Commissioners are eligible to participate in all discussions of the commission except that the alternate <br /> commissioner shall vote only if one of the regular commissioners is absent or has a financial conflict of interest. <br /> D.
