THE CITY OF
CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT 4
pL£ASANTON.
May 1, 2012
City Manager
TITLE: ADOPT A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE COMMUNITY ACCESS
PRESERVATION ACT (CAP).
SUMMARY
The Tri-Valley Cities of Dublin, Livermore, San Ramon and Pleasanton jointly subsidize
programming for Tri-Valley Community Television (TV 30). Recent legislative changes
have resulted in limiting the use of Public Education and Government funds. Adopting a
resolution in support of the Community Access Preservation Act will provide flexibility to
fund TV 30 and potentially reduce the subsidy provided by each city.
RECOMMENDATION
Adopt a resolution in support of the Community Access Preservation (CAP) Act.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
Making a recommendation in support of the CAP Act does not have a direct fiscal
impact on the City. If the CAP Act should be passed, it would allow the City to use
Public Education and Government support funds for operations in addition to equipment
and capital expenditures. This flexibility is of benefit to the City and its PEG partners.
