IN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASA2~TON
COUNTY OF AI~MEDA, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

Resolution No. 2870

Concerning the Southern Alameda County State
College; Recommending a New "Pleasanton Site"
on Valley Avenue; and Obligating The City
to Provide Water~ Sewag% Police, Fire and
Other City Services at the Proposed "Pleasanton
Site".

WHEREAS, Resolution No. 2746, dated April 14, 1958, did urge the
State of California to select a site for the Southern Alameda State College
in the Bernal Avenue vicinity westerly of the City of Pleasanton, and did
obligate the City to provide water and sewer facilities at the site; and

WHEREAS, there has been a change of circumstances in the growth and
development of the City of Pleasanton which requires the City Council to
recon~end a new "P~easanton site"~

NOW THEREFORE THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES HEREBY
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:

1. The City Council does hereby find the following to be the present
facts:

The Bernal Avenue property of the City of San Francisco is

proposed as an industrial par~ with long term leases to be negotiated by
San Francisco. The City of Pleasanton is cooperating with San Francisco
to develop said industrial park for the benefit of the entire area. The
interest shown by industry makes such development practical, and gives both
San Francisco and Pleasanton the opportunity to insure the area a balanced
economy, including high quality industry.

2. The City of Pleasanton, its Planning Commission and Chamber of
Commerce~ has carefully considered all lands desirable for a State college
in the vicinity of Pleasanton. The unanimous choice for a new "Pleasanton
site" is that property easterly of Santa Rita Road~ northerly of the City
of Pleasanton, consisting of 239 acres~ more or less, and will, in all res-
pects, meet the requirements of the State Department of Education for the
proposed college site.
