THE CITY OF 5 <br /> r - '"°_ e <br /> pL��S�4NTONo CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> April 17, 2012 <br /> Community Development <br /> Traffic Engineering Division <br /> TITLE: ADOPT A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE ALAMEDA COUNTY <br /> TRANSPORTATION EXPENDITURE PLAN AND SUPPORTING THE <br /> BOARD OF SUPERVISORS PLACING AN EXTENSION AND <br /> AUGMENTATION OF THE EXISTING TRANSPORTATION SALES TAX ON <br /> THE NOVEMBER 6, 2012 BALLOT <br /> SUMMARY <br /> The 2012 Alameda County Transportation Expenditure Plan (TEP) includes several key <br /> projects and program funds for the City of Pleasanton including $130 million for State <br /> Route 84 widening between Pigeon Pass and 1-680, $400 million for Bart to Livermore, <br /> $1.26 million annually for Local Streets and Roads and $340,000 annually for Bike and <br /> Pedestrian Projects. The ballot measure supported by this plan will augment and <br /> extend the existing half-cent sales tax for transportation in Alameda County, authorizing <br /> an additional half-cent sales tax through 2022 and extending the full cent in perpetuity to <br /> fund the transportation programs and projects described in the 2012 TEP. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Staff recommends that the City Council adopt a resolution approving the 2012 Alameda <br /> County Transportation Expenditure Plan and supporting the Alameda County Board of <br /> Supervisors placing it on the November 6, 2012 ballot. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> If Alameda County voters approve the Measure in November 2012, the City will receive <br /> an estimated $1.26 million annually for local streets and road projects, nearly doubling <br /> the current funding levels. The Measure will also provide $132 million for State Route <br /> 84 (50% of total construction cost). Para-transit services for seniors and people with <br /> disabilities will receive $230,000 annually and the Pleasanton Bicycle and Pedestrian <br /> safety program will increase to $340,000 annually. <br />
