iN TIM CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLF~iS;Ii[TON COUNTY OF AI~aMEDA~ STATE OF CALIFOP~'[ID~ Resolution I[o. 28tO Protesting the United States Army~s Proposed Use of Parks Air Force Base, and Urging Again the Geaeficial Develol~nent of Parks Air Force Base as a Slte for the Proposed State College for Southern Alameda Couaty. WHEREAS~ the City Couacil of the City of Pleasanton has carefully watched the proposed changes for Parks Air Force Base; and, WHEREAS~ the City of Pleasanton, by its geographical nearness to Parks Air Force Base~ is vitally affected by any decision reached by federal or state agencies; NOW THEREFORE THE CITY COUNCIL DOES H~iREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: 1. The City of Pleasanton respectfully objects and protests the proposed use o£ Parks Air Force Base at Pleasanton~ California by the United States Army for "stand-by" purposes. 2. The welfare ofthe City of Pleasanton and surrounding Amador and Livel~more Valleys requires a sage a~d judicial decision to bring about the highest possible use and development of this 4~200 acres of federally-owned facility~. 3. The City of Pleasanton recommends a full and beneficial development of this choice land~ mind_felt of its strategic location to the population cente: of the Bay area and its great size within one parcel. 4. 'tlae City Council holds and believes that the proposed Southern Alame~k County State College is such a benefical use and development for Parks Air Force Base. 5. 21ce cost of developing such a college elsewhere in Southern Alameda County is prohibitive and not keeping good faith with the whole people of the State o£ California. 6. Accordingly~ the United States Arc,f, through its secretaries and officers~ and all executive and legislative officers of the Federal Government are hereby respectfully requested to reconsider and review this important decision.
