2-9.72 Persons Responsible. In a campaign for political office, <br /> the candidate for such office shall be deemed the person responsible <br /> for the posting of political campaign signs, unless he or she first <br /> notifies the City Clerk and the City Manager of another person who <br /> is responsible. If such case, the candidate shall provide the name, <br /> address, telephone number, and signed consents of such other respon- <br /> sible person. In a campaign regarding a ballot measure, the president <br /> or chief officer of the committee supporting or opposing such ballot <br /> measure shall be deemed responsible, unless he first notifies the <br />City Clerk and the City Manager of some other person responsible, in <br />the manner described above. The candidate, or in the case of a ballot <br />measure, the Committee president or chief officer or other responsible <br />person if so designated, shall be liable to pay any fees or costs for <br />the removal and storage of illegal signs, as set out herein. Where a <br />community event sign has been posted illegally, the president or <br />chief officer of the group sponsoring the event shall be deemed the <br />responsible person. <br /> <br />2-9.73 Exception. Billboards and other permanent signs used for <br />advertising meassages which are otherwise permitted by this Code or <br />exist as legal non-conforming uses are exempt from the regulations <br />of this Article. <br /> <br /> Section 4. Section 1-1.15 (Infractions of Chapter I (General Provi- <br /> sions), Title I (Administration), of the Ordinance Code of the <br /> City of Pleasanton is hereby amended by adding Title II, Chapter <br /> 2, Article 18.5 to the list of Code section punishable as infrac- <br /> tions. <br /> <br />Section 5. This ordinance shall take effect thirty (30) days <br /> following passage and adoption. <br /> <br />Section 6. This ordinance shall be published once within fifteen <br /> (15) days after its adoption in "The Valley Times" a newspaper <br /> of general circulation published in the City of Pleasanton. <br /> <br />INTRODUCED at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of <br /> Pleasanton on January 27, 1981. <br /> <br />ADOPTED at a regulat meeting of the City Council of the City of <br /> Pleasanton on February 10, 1981 by the following vote; <br /> <br />AYES: Councilmembers - Butler, Kephart, Mohr, Wood and <br /> Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: None FNN~R~CE/,~ <br />ABSENT: None <br />ABSTAIN: None <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> R, MAYOR <br /> <br /> ames R.
