Alameda County Action Group and the Youth Master Plan Implementation Committee: Mr. Fialho asked <br /> that these two groups be eliminated, as they no longer exist. <br /> MOTION: It was M/S by Cook-Kallio/Thorne to approve other appointments of Councilmembers to <br /> various boards and committees. Motion carried by the following vote: <br /> Ayes: Councilmembers Cook-Kallio, McGovern, Sullivan, Thorne, Mayor Hosterman <br /> Noes: None <br /> Absent: None <br /> Appointment of Vice Mayor: <br /> Mayor Hosterman noted that an election is coming up and some Councilmembers intend to run. She <br /> suggested leaving the appointment up to the Council. <br /> Councilmember Thorne said he has announced that he is running for Mayor and stated all four <br /> Councilmembers could end up running for Mayor. He suggested rotating the Vice Mayorship this year <br /> on a quarterly basis or some other way to make it fair during the election year. <br /> Councilmember McGovern recommended that Councilmember Sullivan serve as Vice Mayor and noted <br /> that he had not been appointed the last time after having served for 7 years. <br /> MOTION: It was M/S by Thorne/Cook-Kallio to rotate the Vice Mayorship on a quarterly basis. Motion <br /> by the following vote: <br /> Councilmember Sullivan noted that Councilmember McGovern and he have been on the Council for 7 <br /> years and have both served as Vice Mayor once. For the past 4 years, Vice Mayorship has rotated <br /> between Councilmember Thorne and Cook-Kallio which he did not believe was fair. <br /> Councilmember McGovern indicated she had no interest in serving on a rotational basis as Vice Mayor. <br /> Ayes: Councilmembers Cook-Kallio, Thorne, Mayor Hosterman <br /> Noes: Councilmembers McGovern and Sullivan <br /> Absent: None <br /> Mr. Fialho confirmed that rotation will be between the three Councilmembers; Cook-Kallio, Sullivan and <br /> Thorne. <br /> MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCIL: None <br /> COUNCIL REPORTS: None <br /> ADJOURNMENT <br /> There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 9:57 p.m. The Council extended a <br /> tribute to our nation's men and women serving in the military.
