the years and the great success our community has had in the last few years with
multiple iniatives in GHG reductions, the most significant being the rebate program
approved by Council in October 2011 for residential and commercial energy programs.
The community has proven through its successes that the plan we developed is
supported and can reach the goals required.
In summary, we are able to meet our reduction target with a buffer of 5,121 MT CO2e.
The chart below shows the CAP targets and expected reductions:
1,100
•
1.000
Business as usual projection-961,549 MT_-; •
900 '_ •
N if J STATE MEASURES • 194,017 MT •
•
800— — — _ .- 2005 baseline-770,844 MT . •
••
•
co
700 AP MEASURES : 117,436 MT •
AR 32 Target-655,218 MT
t 5 121 MT
• •Beyond target •
600
•
•
500
2005 2010 2015 2020 2025
IMPLEMENTATION AND MONITORING
The CAP includes an implementation plan and a comprehensive monitoring plan. The
implementation plan is divided into short, mid, and long term goals and strategies. The
monitoring plan ensures that we have tracking systems in place to detect anomalies and
implement course corrections as necessary. Progress toward the CAP goals will be
monitored regularly, and a progress report will be provided to the City Manager annually.
Additionally, an updated GHG inventory must be performed every five years to ensure
that maximum GHG reductions are achieved and the plan meets current regulatory
standards.
GENERAL PLAN AMENDMENT
Adoption of the CAP will put the City of Pleasanton on a path to achieving a more
sustainable community. By adopting the CAP by reference in the Pleasanton General
Plan, future development will be subject to the provisions of the CAP, while the CAP can
be updated as needed to meet the City's greenhouse gas reduction targets without being
subject to the State Planning Law requirements related to General Plan amendments.
