CITY OF PLEASANTON
COUNTY OF AIAMEDA
STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION NO, 3123

Whereas, the Alameda County Planning Con~nission is presently considering
amendments to its Zoning Ordinance which would change the permitted land use
from agricultural to heavy industrial of an area consisting of approximately
678 acres located southerly of U. S. Highway 50 and westerly of Hopyard Road;
and

Whereas, said area proposed to be rezoned has been included in the
"Pleasanton Planning Area" for the purpose of advisory review by the City of
Pleasanton relative to proposed zoning changes; and

Whereas, the City of Pleasanton is presently studying the extension of
its official General Plan to include said area proposed to be rezoned and has
set an initial hearing date for said General Plan extension for February 16,
1961;

Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved as follows:

1. The City Council does hereby affirm and approve the action of the
Pleasanton planning Commission in adopting Resolution No. 125~ and does
hereby urge the Almmeda County Planning Cow,,~ssion to deny the request to
rezone said area from agricultural to heavy industrial.

2. This request and recommendation is made for the following reasons:
a. The rezoning of the area in question may well result in over-

zoning for industry~ in the "Pleasanton Planning Area".

b. Heavy industrial development of the type allowed by the Alamedm
County Zoning Ordinance would create serious air pollution
problems for the entire Amador Valley.

c. Heavy industrial development of the type allowed by the Alameda
County Zoning Ordinance is much less restrictive than that allowe~
by the Pleasanton Zoning Ordinance. Such development in the area
in question under the ~l~meda CoIA~lty Zoning Ordinance would not
be compatible with the future application of the Pleasanton
General Plan and Zoning Ordinance, and would tend to nullify
the "Industrial Park" concept embodied in the City of Pleasanton
