A physical evaluation will determine whether an individual is physically and mentally <br /> able to perform essential job duties without undue risk or harm to self or others. This <br /> exam provides medical clearance for hired LPFD members to work in assigned areas. <br /> B. Standardized Hands-On Physical Exam assesses vital signs, head, ryes, ears, nose and <br /> Throat (noting general fitness for wearing head gear, face piece, and breathing <br /> equipment), neck (range of motion, vessel auscultation); Inspection, auscultation, <br /> percussion and palpation of the following: cardiovascular, pulmonary (exercise <br /> tolerance, risk factors), gastrointestinal, genitourinary *(hernia, testicular and pelvic), <br /> rectal* (prostate), lymph nodes, neurological (mental status and cranial/peripheral <br /> nerves), musculoskeletal (overall range of motion, reflexes), skin(carcinoma). <br /> *Components of this exam can be deferred when employee uses his/her own <br /> primary care physician to perform exam. Results must be forwarded and <br /> evaluated by Department physician. <br /> C. Body Composition Body Fat Composition (skin fold measurement or BOTH bio- <br /> impedance and hip-to-waist ratio). <br /> D. Blood Analysis Provide and interpret diagnostic medical evaluation to include <br /> but not limited to: <br /> Blood analysis and other tests: CBC, Liver function (SGOT/AST, <br /> SGPT/ALT,LDH, Alkaline Phosphatase, and Bilirubin), Triglycerides, Glucose, <br /> BUN, Creatinine, Electrolytes, Carbon Dioxide, Total Protein, Albumin, <br /> Calcium, Cholesterol (LDL/HDL/Ratio) <br /> *Blood samples received for this analysis is not intended to be and will not be <br /> used for drug screening at any time. <br /> E. Urinalysis (dip stick and microscopic) <br /> *Urine samples received for this analysis are not intended to be and will not be <br /> used for drug screening at any time. <br /> F. Vision - Evaluation of distance, near, peripheral, and color vision. Evaluate for <br /> common visual disorders including cataracts, macular degeneration, glaucoma, <br /> and diabetic retinopathy. <br /> G. Hearing Tests Audiogram <br /> H. Pulmonary <br /> I.
