CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />COUNTY OF AIAMEDA <br />STATE OF CALIFOi~NIA <br /> <br />RESO~3T~ON NO. 3ll~ <br /> <br /> WHEEEAS, the area now called "San Ramon ViSage", located in Pleasanton <br />Township, Alameda County, California, northerly of Highway U. S. 50 and easterly <br />of State Highway 2_l, is geographically and historically part of the Pleasanton <br />area; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Pacific Telephone, a privately owned public utility, proposes to <br />~rovide phone service with said area as a part of Contra Costa County; and <br /> <br />WHE~, the City of Pleasant~n and the people of the surroundi~g area <br />rovide San Ramon ViLlage with governmental, business, political, and social <br />~ervices; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton and the people of the surrounding area <br />desire to keep and maintain this relationship with said la~d during its growth <br />and develolm~ent; <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> 1) Th~ City of Pleasanton does hereby urge Pacific Telephone to provide <br />telephone service ~to said San Eamon Viii-ge through the existing "Victor 6" <br />exchange, or a s~mflar exchange, making telephone communication within the <br />Pleasanton area convenient and inexpensive. <br /> <br />2) The City of Pleasanton urges this action for the following reasons: <br /> <br /> a) Sewer and water facilities of Valley Cozm~unity Services District <br />mrewithin the Victor 6 exchange. <br /> <br /> b) Ail Alameda County governmental services use Victor 6 numbers, <br />including sheriff, health department, police, building inspection, and standby <br />fire equipment. <br /> <br /> c) Fire protection facilities presently provided by the City of <br />Pleasanton use the Victor 6 exchange. <br /> <br />d) Toll calls would hurt the present business tra~ng area. <br /> <br /> 3) Further, the City of Pleasanton does hereby request the Pacific Tele- <br />shone to' review the phone service amd charges now existing in the Pleasanton <br /> ownship and Murray Township, being the Livermore, Pleasanton and San Bamon <br /> ~alley portions of Eastern ~lameda County. It is requested said review include <br /> ~ate studies between Victor 6 and Hilltop 7 exc3~nges, as well including the new <br /> ~an Ramon Village within the same exchanges. <br /> <br /> 4) O~her civic groups, persons and organizations within said Eastern <br />%lameda County are urged to express their views on these matters directly to <br />Pacific Telephone. <br /> <br /> 5) The City Clerk is hereby instructed to send copies of this resolution <br /> Pacific Telephone, the Public Utilities Commission of the State of California <br /> interested governmental agencies and their legislative bodies, officers and <br /> private persons and organizations concerned with telephone service in East- <br />~rnAlameda County. <br /> <br />November 28, 1960 <br /> <br />Warren R.
