THE CITY OF 11 <br /> -'"=� CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> pLE ASANTON. <br /> December 6, 2011 <br /> Community Services <br /> TITLE: APPROVE PROPOSED ARTWORKS FOR PHASE TWO OF THE <br /> HARRINGTON PUBLIC ART ACQUISITION PLAN <br /> SUMMARY <br /> Pleasanton residents Nancy and Gary Harrington have proposed a 10-year plan to help <br /> the City of Pleasanton acquire public art. The overall plan has been reviewed and <br /> approved by the Civic Arts and Parks and Recreation Commissions, the Economic <br /> Vitality Advisory Committee, and the Board of Directors of the Pleasanton Downtown <br /> Association. On behalf of Mr. and Mrs. Harrington, the Civic Arts Commission, and the <br /> Public Art Selection Subcommittee, staff is requesting that the Council review and <br /> approve 12 newly-proposed artworks that have been identified by Mr. and Mrs. <br /> Harrington for addition to the City's public art collection. <br /> CIVIC ARTS COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION <br /> That the City Council approve the selected artworks, allowing for their acquisition and <br /> addition to the City's collection. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> That the City Council approve the selected artworks, allowing for their acquisition and <br /> addition to the City's collection. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> Funding for the acquisition of all 12 artworks will be arranged and provided by Nancy <br /> and Gary Harrington and other private donors. Incidental costs for site preparation, or <br /> installation and signage will be borne by the City from its Public Art Acquisition Fund. <br /> Approximately $45,000 is currently available in the fund, and is included in the FY <br /> 2011/2012 Budget. <br />
