BACKGROUND <br /> In 2010, the City Council and the Pleasanton Unified School District adopted the update <br /> to the Pleasanton Youth Master Plan (Master Plan). The Master Plan identifies six (6) <br /> Goals and 49 Strategies that outlines how the City will achieve its vision and goals. <br /> Upon the adoption of the Youth Master Plan, the Youth Master Plan Implementation <br /> Committee (YMPIC) and Ad Hoc Committee began working with City staff and the <br /> Youth Commission on the implementation phase of the Master Plan and completed the <br /> following goals and objectives: <br /> 1. Developed a Youth Master Plan Implementation Work Plan. <br /> 2. Conducted an online Prioritization Survey for the YMPIC and Youth Commission <br /> to select their top goals and strategies. <br /> 3. Identified and initiated an outreach process to 47 potential Implementation <br /> Partners and met with responding agencies. <br /> 4. As an objective of "Goal 6: Informative Youth" of the Youth Master Plan, the <br /> YMPIC and the Ad Hoc Committee began the development process of a new <br /> youth website that would replace "PTown 411". That process included the <br /> following steps: <br /> a. Staff worked with the City's Information Technology (IT) staff to populate <br /> and build the platform for the proposed new youth website. <br /> b. Developed a Gap Analysis tool to be incorporated into the youth website <br /> that will be completed by local youth agencies to help determine program <br /> and service gaps. <br /> c. Added the Youth Master Plan to the website. <br /> d. Selected the name Ptownlife for the new website and secured its domain. <br /> e. Developed a website `Purpose Statement" and "Welcome Message." <br /> DISCUSSION <br /> A Request for Proposal (RFP) was made available publicly. Four (4) proposals were <br /> submitted to the City of Pleasanton for consideration. <br /> • It Lansing <br /> • Eye580 Interactive <br /> • Carahsoft Technology Group & Armedia <br /> • Drupal Connect <br /> Agency representatives from two (2) of the firms, It Lansing and Eye580 Interactive, <br /> were interviewed by staff along with two members from the Youth Master Plan <br /> Oversight Committee resulting in the selection of Eye580 Interactive. Eye580 is a Tri- <br /> Valley based company with extensive knowledge in developing websites using the <br /> "Drupal" platform. "Drupal" is a free, flexible, and robust open source content <br /> management platform that can be used to build everything from blogs to enterprise <br /> applications. In addition, there are thousands of add-on modules and designs that allow <br /> the user to build and maintain any website they desire. <br /> Page 2 of 3 <br />
