CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA ORDINANCE NO. 1091 ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE I (ADMINISTRATION), CHAPTER 3 (REVENUE AND TAXATION), ARTICLE 5 (HOTEL-MOTEL TAX), SECTION 1-6.40 BY INCREASING THE TAX FROM 5% to 8% WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton has one of the lowest rates of hotel-motel tax in Alameda County and due to the ever present need for revenue, it is aDDroDriate at this time to increase this tax rate to be on a par with cities of comparable size; and WHEREAS, the Director of Finance Dresented her report (SR 83:196) to the Council discussing in detail the justification of this tax increase; and WHEREAS, Section 36937 of the Government Code allows taxes for the usual and current expenses of the City to take effect immediately; and WHEREAS, the hotel-motel tax is a general tax, the revenues of which become a part of the general fund; THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: Title I (Administration), Chapter 3 (Revenue and Taxation), Article 5 (Hotel-Motel Tax), Section 1-6.40 of the Ordinance Code of the City of Pleasanton is hereby amended to increase the hotel-motel tax from 5% to 8% to be effective September 1, 1983. Section 2: This ordinance shall be published once within fifteen (15) days after its adoption in "The Valley Times," a newspaper of general circulation published in the City of Pleasanton. Section 3: This ordinance shall be effective immediately UPOn its passage and adoption. INTRODUCED at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Pleasanton on June 28, 1983.
