CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 1091 <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE I (ADMINISTRATION), <br /> CHAPTER 3 (REVENUE AND TAXATION), ARTICLE 5 <br /> (HOTEL-MOTEL TAX), SECTION 1-6.40 BY INCREASING <br /> THE TAX FROM 5% to 8% <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton has one of the lowest rates <br /> of hotel-motel tax in Alameda County and due to <br /> the ever present need for revenue, it is aDDroDriate <br /> at this time to increase this tax rate to be on a <br /> par with cities of comparable size; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Director of Finance Dresented her report <br /> (SR 83:196) to the Council discussing in detail <br /> the justification of this tax increase; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 36937 of the Government Code allows taxes <br /> for the usual and current expenses of the City to <br /> take effect immediately; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the hotel-motel tax is a general tax, the revenues <br /> of which become a part of the general fund; <br /> <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES HEREBY ORDAIN <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Section 1: Title I (Administration), Chapter 3 (Revenue and <br /> Taxation), Article 5 (Hotel-Motel Tax), Section 1-6.40 <br /> of the Ordinance Code of the City of Pleasanton is <br /> hereby amended to increase the hotel-motel tax from <br /> 5% to 8% to be effective September 1, 1983. <br /> <br /> Section 2: This ordinance shall be published once within <br /> fifteen (15) days after its adoption in "The Valley <br /> Times," a newspaper of general circulation published <br /> in the City of Pleasanton. <br /> <br /> Section 3: This ordinance shall be effective immediately UPOn <br /> its passage and adoption. <br /> <br /> INTRODUCED at a regular meeting of the City Council of the <br /> City of Pleasanton on June 28, 1983. <br /> <br /> ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City <br /> of Pleasanton on July 12, 1983 by the following vote: <br /> <br /> <br />
