UNTY OF <br />SI'ATE OF C~Llt:ORN,~ <br /> <br />3282 <br /> <br />OPPOSING MAINTENANCE OF RAILROAD CROSSING <br />PROTECTIVE DEVICES BY CITIES <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton is traversed by the <br /> Southern Pacific Railroad tracks and the Western Pacific Railroad <br /> tracks, with many crossings in need of protective devices; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the installation of wig-wags and other devices is <br />a tremendous burden on a growing city; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Public Utilities Co,,,,,,ission is presently <br />considering the request of the railroad companies to require <br /> <br />cities and counties to pay maintenance costs for wig-wags; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> 1. The City Council does hereby urge the Public Utilities <br />Commission to continue the policy of assessing maintenance costs <br />for railroad crossing protective devices to the railroads. <br /> <br /> 2. The City Clerk is hereby directed to send copies of this <br />resolution to Mr. Everett C.
