CONCLUSION
This topic introduces the upcoming negotiations with the Pleasanton Police Officers'
Association and allows the City Council and staff to receive input on the matter prior to
initiating the negotiations process. Negotiations generally take a few months to
conclude and the tentative agreement will be presented in a two step process —
introduction at one meeting and final consideration at a second meeting. It should also
be acknowledged that if the City Council wishes to proceed with the endorsement of the
League of California Cities Action Plan and/or the suggested benchmarks, that
additional policies may be necessary in the future if economic conditions worsen, to
enhance the City's fiscal heath, contribute to safeguarding the City's workforce, and
maintain the City's quality of life for residents and businesses.
Submitted by: Fiscal Review: Approved b, :
- (yhdri tOr/
/ ulie Yuan iu Emily Wagner Nelson Fialho
Assistant ity Manager/ Director of Finance City Manager
Director of Administrative Services
Attachments
Presentation Slides — Bartel and Associates
League of California Cities Pension Reform Action Plan
CPI Report — June 2011
