'CITY OF PLEASANTCM <br /> COUNTY OF ALAMEDA <br /> STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> ~£SOLUTION NO.,, ~ ~ 8 9 <br />OPPOSING ASSEMBLY BILL NO. 1396, <br />PROPOSING BUSINESS LICENSE TAX <br />EXEMPTION AT FAIRGROUNDS <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council and the League of California <br />Cities have studied the affect of Assembly Bill No. 1396 concern- <br />ing business license tax exemption at fairgrounds; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> 1. The City does hereby propose and urge the defeat of <br />this bill proposing business license tax exemptions for corm~ercial <br />enterprises operating upon the fairgrounds for the following <br />reasons: <br /> <br /> a. Business on fairgrounds require additional city <br />services and put an additional strain on city facilities but are <br />often not subject to other taxes. <br /> <br /> b. Many businesses on fairgrounds have nothing to <br />do with governmental activities such as recreation and education <br />of the public, but instead are able to realize substantial profits <br /> <br /> c.
