WHEREAS, the United Cerebral Palsy Association of Alameda <br />County since 1939 has been rendering a service to our citizens <br />afflicted with cerebral palsy, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, there is no such resource available to these <br />people other than the Association, comprised of public spirited <br />citizens, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, for reasons beyond control, the Association finds <br />itself operating at a deficit, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the financial situation is so desperate that the <br />Cerebral Palsy Center at 4500 Lincoln Avenue, Oakland, will be <br />closed in January, 1974, unless immediate relief is forth- <br />coming, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the withdrawal of the therapeutic services of the <br />Center would prove catastrophic to a large number of already <br />unfortunate people, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the people of Alameda County cannot, in conscience <br />permit this vital community function to be discontinued for <br />lack of funds, now therefore <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Pleasanton does officially <br />endorse the emergency "Save the Center" campaign of the United <br />Cerebral Palsy Association of Alameda County, and urge the <br />citizens of this community to contribute promptly and generously <br />in a spirit of responsibility to the public welfare. <br /> <br />ADOPTED: <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />December 2, <br /> <br />1963. <br /> <br /> JOHN L.
