CITY OF PLEAS~2.~ON <br />COUNTY OF <br />STATE OF <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 3484 <br /> <br />URGING THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA, DIVISION OF HIG~AYS, TO CONSIDER <br />INCREASED SIGNING FOR THE CITY OF PL~L{SAB~fON ON FUTURE FREEWAYS <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is noted that Route 680 recently completed between Mission <br />San Jose and Scotts Corner has one sign only indicating the turn-off for Pleasanton <br />and no advance directional signs; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is also noted that many of the guide signs on existing State <br />Highways leading to the City of Pleaaanton are antiquated and that there is a <br />noticeable lack of advance directional signs indicating the City of Pleasanton <br />on all State Highways leading to the L~vermore-Amador-Sunol Valleys and the City <br />of Pleaaanton; and <br /> <br /> h~EREAS, the City of Pleasanton is the home of the Alameda County Fair <br />and these fairgrounds are used throughout the year for activities which draw <br />visitors from throughout the State; and <br /> <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton has been an incorporated city since 1894; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Plessanton has entered upon a period of explosive <br />growth which is expected to triple its population within five years; <br /> <br />NOW, TMEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />The City Council does hereby request the State of California, <br />Division of Highways, to take these factors into consideration <br />in the signing of all future freeways in this area and to <br />provide an increased number of advance directional signs for <br />the City of ~leasanton. <br /> <br />The City Council does hereby request the State of California, <br />Di~.sion of t~g~ays, to review the present signing of all <br />State Highways leading to the Livermore-Amador-Sunol Valleys <br />and the City of Pleasenton, and to embark upon a program to <br />improve the guide signing on all these routes. <br /> <br />The City Clark is hereby inatnmted to circulate copies of <br />this resolution to all interested parties, officers and <br />agencies. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />February 17, 1964 <br /> <br />~O~L~ McWILLIAMS ]' Mayor <br /> <br />HELEW WOODWARD, City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
