CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />COUNTY OF AL,'~IEt~A <br />STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 3483 <br /> <br />U~I~G TH~ STATE OF CALIFORIT/~, DXV~SXON OF ~G~AYS, TO CONSIDER <br />~ ~DI~O~ I~E~E ON U.S. ~G~AY 50 <br /> <br /> ~fltEREAS, the State of California proposes and has plans to improve present <br />U.S. Highway 50 to ~u11 freeway standards; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, these plans indicate one interchat~e to be constructed at Santa <br />Rita Road and one between Doolan Road and Collier Canyon Road with frontage roads <br />providing access to all existin~ streets and properties between these interchan~es; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the distance between these proposed interchan~es is approximately <br />three miles; and <br /> <br /> ~4EREA$, there are shovm five roads enterin~ onto Highway 50 between the <br />proposed interchan~es; and <br /> <br /> ~tEREAS, one of these roads, knoum as El Charro Road, presently carries <br />considerable truck traffic haulin~ gravel from adjacent quarries, which traffic is <br />increasing; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it would be inappropriate for this truck traffic to be routed <br />alone a frontage road through areas in the City of Pleasanton now bein~ planned for <br />residential development; and <br /> <br /> ~tEREAS, it would be costly to construct the frontage roads with a <br />structural section adequate to carry this truck traffic; and <br /> <br /> WHERFAS, the length of the proposed frontage roads appears undesirable and <br />unduly circuitous for traffic enterin~ or leaving any of the extstin~ roads no~ <br />connectin~ directly to Highway 50 be~een the proposed interchanges; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />The City Council does hereby urge the State of California, Division <br />of Highways, to plan and construct as a part of the highway improvement <br />project an additional interchan~e on U.S. Highway 50 in the vicinity <br />of E1 Charro Road. <br /> <br />2.
