CITY OF PLEASANTON COUNTY OF AL,'~IEt~A STATE OF CALIFORNIA RESOLUTION NO. 3483 U~I~G TH~ STATE OF CALIFORIT/~, DXV~SXON OF ~G~AYS, TO CONSIDER ~ ~DI~O~ I~E~E ON U.S. ~G~AY 50 ~fltEREAS, the State of California proposes and has plans to improve present U.S. Highway 50 to ~u11 freeway standards; and WHEREAS, these plans indicate one interchat~e to be constructed at Santa Rita Road and one between Doolan Road and Collier Canyon Road with frontage roads providing access to all existin~ streets and properties between these interchan~es; and WHEREAS, the distance between these proposed interchan~es is approximately three miles; and ~4EREA$, there are shovm five roads enterin~ onto Highway 50 between the proposed interchan~es; and ~tEREAS, one of these roads, knoum as El Charro Road, presently carries considerable truck traffic haulin~ gravel from adjacent quarries, which traffic is increasing; and WHEREAS, it would be inappropriate for this truck traffic to be routed alone a frontage road through areas in the City of Pleasanton now bein~ planned for residential development; and ~tEREAS, it would be costly to construct the frontage roads with a structural section adequate to carry this truck traffic; and WHERFAS, the length of the proposed frontage roads appears undesirable and unduly circuitous for traffic enterin~ or leaving any of the extstin~ roads no~ connectin~ directly to Highway 50 be~een the proposed interchanges; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS: The City Council does hereby urge the State of California, Division of Highways, to plan and construct as a part of the highway improvement project an additional interchan~e on U.S. Highway 50 in the vicinity of E1 Charro Road. 2. The City Clerk is hereby instructed to circulate copies of this resolution to interested parties, officers and agencies.
