22
THE CITY OF
CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
pL£ASANTONo
June 21 , 2011
Operations Services Department
TITLE: ADOPTION OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON'S DRAFT 2010 URBAN
WATER MANAGEMENT PLAN
SUMMARY
The Draft 2010 Urban Water Management Plan (UWMP), a 20-year water supply
planning document, has been prepared in accordance with the California UWMP Act
and the Water Conservation Bill of 2009 (SBX7-7). The Draft 2010 UWMP describes the
City's water deliveries and uses, water supply sources, and demand management
measures. Additionally, it incorporates the City's plan to achieve a 20 percent reduction
in potable water use by 2020 (referred to as the 2020 target), along with the financial
implications that maybe necessary to achieve Pleasanton's 2020 target. As an urban
water supplier, the City of Pleasanton is required to update and submit to the California
Department of Water Resources their UWMP every 5-years (a 6-month extension was
provided to address the additions incorporated into the UWMP by SBX7-7).
RECOMMENDATION
City staff recommends that the City Council approve the adoption of the 2010 Draft
Urban Water Management Plan. This approval is necessary for submission to the
Department of Water Resources.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
There is no direct financial impact.
