CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br />RESOLUTION NO. 03-056 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION APPOINTING KIRK RIDGEWAY AS <br />PLEASANTON'S POET LAUREATE FOR 2003-2005 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the term of the current Poet Laureate expired on April 30, 2003; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Poet Laureate Selection Committee met on April 15, 2003 to review <br /> applications for the next Poet Laureate; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />after careful review of the candidates' poetry and experience in the public arena, <br />the Selection Committee nominated Kirk Ridgeway as Pleasanton's Poet Laureate; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />at its meeting of May 5, 2003, the Civic Arts Commission reviewed the <br />Committee's recommendation and in addition the Commission agreed with the <br />Committee' suggestion to eliminate the position of Poet Laureate Elect, since it <br />was found to be redundant and not needed; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: <br /> <br />The City Council hereby appoints Kirk Ridgeway as the Poet Laureate of <br />Pleasanton, which term shall expire on April 30, 2005. <br /> <br />Section 2: The position of Poet Laureate Elect is deleted. <br /> <br />Section 3: This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br /> <br />
