CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEA§ANTON

ALAMEDA COUNTY, ALAMEDA

ORDINANCE NO. 1882

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON AMENDING
SECTION 1 (PART) OF ORDINANCE NO. 1875 AND SECTION 11.20.010
OF THE PLEASANTON MUNICIPAL CODE CONCERNING THE SPEED
LIMIT ON STONERIDGE DRIVE EAST OF NEWTON DRIVE

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:

Section 1: Findings (not to be codified).

The City Council finds that the speed limit on Stoneridge Drive east of
Newton Drive to be 35 mph based on the following: The City has considered the
prevailing speeds as determined by traffic engineering measurements, accident
records, highway, traffic, and roadside conditions not readily apparent to drivers,
and pedestrian and bicyclist safety. In this general area are an unfenced
neighborhood park, a private elementary school, and streets that serve a public
elementary school. These uses are likely to generate considerable pedestrian and
bicyclists, many of whom will be of elementary school age. By imposing a speed
limit of 35 mph in this area, the area will remain more safe for children walking or
riding their bikes to school and to the park. Accordingly, the speed limit for
Stoneridge Drive east of Newton Drive shall be 35 mph, as provided in Section 2
below. These findings shall be included in the engineering and traffic survey for
this portion of Stoneridge Drive, and to be considered by the traffic court.

Section 2:

Section 1 (part) of Ordinance No. 1875 and Section 11.20.010 of the Pleasanton
Municipal Code are hereby amended to read as follows:

"11.20.010 Speed Limits in Certain Zones

Based upon an engineering and traffic investigation and study, the prima
facie speed limit shall be as set forth in this section on those streets, or parts of
said streets, designated in this section when signs are in place giving notice
thereof:

(Subsections A-JJ, no change.)
