TH CITY OF
CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
pL£ASANTON.
May 3, 2011
Community Services
TITLE: ADOPT A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING SUBMITTAL OF AN
APPLICATION FOR (TDA) FY12 TRANSPORTATION DEVELOPMENT ACT
ARTICLE 4.5 FUNDS AND ALAMEDA COUNTY MEASURE B FUNDS FOR
THE PLEASANTON PARATRANSIT SERVICE
SUMMARY
The Transportation Development Act (TDA) provides for the disbursement of
transportation funds through the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) for
community transit services. Funding is allocated from TDA Article 4.5 and Alameda
County Measure B (dedicated sales tax) funds. Eligible agencies are required to file
annual applications for allocation with the MTC and the Alameda County Transportation
Commission (Alameda CTC). For FY 12, the City's projected allocation is $131,318
($51,445 TDA; $79,873 Measure B). These funds will be used to offset the proposed
FY 12 Paratransit Door -to -Door (DTD) program cost of $539,781.
RECOMMENDATION
That the City Council adopt a resolution authorizing the Director of Community Services
to submit an application for the FY 12 Transportation Development Act (TDA) Article 4.5
funds from the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) and Alameda County
Measure B Funds from the Alameda County Transportation Commission (Alameda
CTC).
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
The total cost of the City's Paratransit Door -to -Door program is $539,781. Should the
City receive both TDA Article 4.5 ($51,445) and Measure B ($79,873) funds for FY 12, it
would reduce the City's contribution from the General Fund to $360,463. The total
General Fund subsidy for the Paratransit Program is estimated to be $565,900 for FY
2011/12. This subsidy also includes a $200,000 subsidy for the fixed route services
between the Downtown area and various senior housing complexes.
