May 3, 2011 Community Development Planning Division TITLE: CITY OF PLEASANTON (PGPA -17) HOUSING ELEMENT UPDATE STATUS REPORT AND DIRECTION TO THE HOUSING ELEMENT TASK FORCE SUMMARY In October 2010, the City Council confirmed an 11- member Housing Element Task Force to oversee the update of the General Plan Housing Element. This report provides an update of the accomplishments of the Task Force thus far, a description of the site selection process that is the focus of the Task Force's work, and an overview of the schedule for completion of the Housing Element update. HOUSING COMMISSION AND PLANNING COMMISSION ACTION An update on the Housing Element will be provided to the Housing Commission on April 21 and to the Planning Commission on April 27. A memo outlining any recommendations from the Housing Commission and the Planning Commission will be provided to the City Council prior to the meeting on May 3, 2011. RECOMMENDATION Provide feedback as appropriate to the Housing Element Task Force on sites to consider for rezoning and the Goals, Policies and Programs to include in the Draft Housing Element. FINANCIAL STATEMENT Consultant assistance on this project was authorized by the City Council in September 2010 and is being paid for through the Lower Income Housing Fund. Planning Division staff time associated with the Housing Element Update is part of the Community Development Department's approved budget.
