Fred Norman said no one recognized tonight the 6,000 dead American troops from wars in Iraq <br /> and Afghanistan and noted the City's cost for both wars is $524 million since 2001. <br /> Kathy Dowding read a quote from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. from 1967 and said Pleasanton will <br /> pay $48.8 million for FY 2011 just for Afghanistan. She shared 14 names of those who have <br /> died in Iraq and Afghanistan arid invited everybody to their peace vigils. <br /> Louise Gusha read a letter into the record from police dispatcher Lowell Howe asking that the <br /> council honor the contract presented and indicating she cannot take a pay cut. <br /> Mayor Hosterman called for a brief break, and thereafter reconvened the regular meeting. <br /> PUBLIC HEARINGS AND OTHER MATTERS <br /> 9. Pulled from the agenda - Consider approval of the Memorandum of Understanding <br /> between the City of Pleasanton and the Pleasanton City Employees Association /AFSCME <br /> Local 955 for the term Ncvember 1, 2010 through March 31, 2013 <br /> 10. Consider adoption of a resolution to amend the Management and Confidential Employee <br /> Compensation and Benefit Plan to require department heads, management and <br /> confidential employees to contribute 4% to CaIPERS pension costs <br /> Julie Yuan -Mui said the item has been previously presented and staff is recommending the <br /> Council adopt the resolution. <br /> MOTION: It was M/S by McGovern/Thorne to approve Resolution No. 11 -419 to amend the <br /> Management and Confidential Employee Compensation and Benefit Plan to require department <br /> heads, management and confidential employees to contribute 4% to CaIPERS pension costs <br /> Motion passed by the following vote: <br /> Ayes: Councilmembers Cook- Kallio, McGovern, Sullivan, Thorne, Mayor Hosterman <br /> Noes: None <br /> Absent: None <br /> 11. Public Hearing: PAP -149, David & Stephanie Persin (PADR -2090, Rodney & Trina <br /> Lopez), Appeal of the Planning Commission's approval of an application for Administrative <br /> Design Review to construct an approximately 80 sq. ft. single story addition and an <br /> approximately 1,038 sq. ft. second story addition to the existing residence located at 6114 <br /> Homer Court <br /> Brian Dolan gave the staff report and PowerPoint presentation regarding an appeal of an <br /> application for an 80 square foot single story addition and 1,038 square foot second story <br /> addition. He presented a site plan, existing and proposed elevations, issues relating to visuals <br /> and non - agreement to mediation, visuals showing viewpoints and shadows, examples of two <br /> story homes in Val Vista, evaluation of the project size showing that in the immediate <br /> neighborhood the proposal would be the second largest house and the highest FAR.
