The TIGER II funds require that all environmental and design documents be finalized
prior to September 30, 2012. In order to meet those deadlines, the Iron Horse Trail
Feasibility Study and Master Plan must be approved and environmental studies and
design work must be initiated by March 2011.
On February 10, 2011, the East Bay Regional Park District (EBRPD) presented the plan
to the City Council, Parks and Recreation Commission and the Bicycle, Pedestrian and
Trails Committee for their review, comment and consideration. The City Council
requested that the East Bay Regional Park District take the following actions during the
project's design phase:
• Continue to pursue safe and convenient street crossings along the Iron Horse
Trail at Owens Drive, Hacienda Drive, and W. Las Positas Drive;
• Continue to work with the neighborhoods adjacent to the Iron Horse Trail in
addressing their safety concerns regarding the trail's interface with their
neighborhood, and the relocation and reconstruction of the recreational
amenities in Owens Plaza Park; and
• Continue to work with Zone 7 in developing alternative street crossings that will
improve trail safety, accessibility and use at the intersection of Santa Rita Road
and Stoneridge Drive.
Submitted by: Fiscal Review: Approve y:
U 0t
Susan Andrade -Wax Emily Wagner Nelson Fialho
Community Services Director Director of Finance City Manager
Attachments
1.
