for the evaluation of the proposals included availability, project understanding, project
approach, members of the project team and previous experience with similar projects.
ENGEO Incorporated has proposed to perform this work for a not -to- exceed amount of
$24,495 (see Attachment 5).
Easement:
The existing sanitary sewer lift station S -6 is currently situated on a State of California
Department of Transportation (Caltrans) public utility easement and additional
permanent easement area is necessary to complete this project. As a result of
negotiations, Caltrans has determined this land to be excess land and has agreed to
sell the 24,045 square feet parcel for $160,200 and enter into "Right-of-Entry" and
"Option to Purchase" agreements. Dean Chapman & Associates, an appraisal firm hired
by the City, reviewed the purchase agreement and deemed the purchase price of
$160,200 to be reasonable. The Right of Entry agreement will allow the project to begin
construction while the process of the land purchase can be completed. The purchase of
the parcel will ensure that City of Pleasanton can maintain unrestricted access and
provide additional space for maintenance activities and /or future growth. Purchasing the
land instead of easements will reduce the cost of future projects by not requiring
purchase of additional perrnanent and temporary construction easements and delays
associated with attaining easements.
Schedule
The proposed schedule for the subject project is as follows:
Approval of Plans and Specifications and Award of Contract: 3/01/11
Start of Construction: 4/04/11
End of Construction: 4/04/12
ubmitt by: Fiscal Review: Approv by:
Brian olan Emily Wagner Nelson Fialho
Director of Director of Finance City Manager
Community Development
Attachments:
1.
