To: The City of Pleasanton City Council,
RE: PADR -2090
December 27, 2010
This letter is being written to summarize the need of which this project should be
approved and to show that the applicants (Rodney and Trina Lopez) have worked in good
faith with the City of Pleasanton, and the appellants during the planning phase. We feel
we have been practical with our request and very reasonable with what we have offered
to mitigate the objections from the appellants.
History
• Twelve years ago we purchased our horn (1489 sqft), before starting a family
• When we purchased our home we knew that the home was allowed to grow with
our family. We knew this because the title company required us to sign the
Declaration of Restrictions (CC &R's) which state that the home was allowed to
be built up to 2 and one half stories.
• Currently we have :3 grade school children of which two of them share a room
Reasons for Building
• Need work space
o Trina has been working from home since 2006 and converted a bedroom
to an office.
o Rodney has been working from home since 2009 and currently uses the
kitchen table for his office space.
1. "There have been many times he is running from room to room to
find a quiet spot to make an early morning conference / training
call while the kids are getting ready for school in the morning.
2. The kitchen table becomes an office space, a dining table, kid's
homework and projects table. Building this new addition would
allow the office space and bedroom space so that this will not be
an issue.
o To remain gainfully employed it is important to have private office space
in the home.
o Because both Trina and Rodney work from home they are making a
positive impact for the environment and the City of Pleasanton by "Going
Green ".
• Need bedroom space
o Currently our girls share a I Oxl O room with bunk beds. In recent years
we have seen the need for additional space and privacy and it will more
prevalent in their teenage years for privacy and space.
ATTACHMENT 3
