THE CITY OF 09 <br /> -- CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT 09 <br /> pL£ASANTON® <br /> January 18, 2010 <br /> Administrative Services <br /> TITLE: INTRODUCE A TENTATIVE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF <br /> PLEASANTON AND THE PLEASANTON CITY EMPLOYEES <br /> ASSOCIATION /AFSCME LOCAL 955 FOR A TERM ENDING MARCH 31, <br /> 2013 <br /> SUMMARY <br /> The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the City of Pleasanton and the <br /> Pleasanton City Employees Association /AFSCME Local 955 (PCEA/AFSCME) expired <br /> on October 31, 2010. Representatives from the City and the PCEA/AFSCME have met <br /> and conferred in good faith and reached a tentative agreement. The Union membership <br /> ratified the tentative agreement on November 9, 2010. The City's practice is to introduce <br /> the matter at a public hearing and provide an opportunity for staff and City Council to <br /> receive comments from the public. The second public discussion is the final step of <br /> presenting the tentative agreement to the Pleasanton City Council for approval and to <br /> authorize the City Manager to finalize and execute the final agreement. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Receive comments from the public regarding the tentative agreement reached between <br /> the City and Pleasanton City Employees Association /AFSCME Local 955. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> The savings from the PCEA/AFSCME employees participating in the costs of the <br /> pension program represents approximately $722,000 for the duration of the contract. <br /> Other savings are noted in the agenda report entitled "Managing Personnel Costs" since <br /> it includes savings associated with other represented and unrepresented groups. <br />
