<br />PLANNING COMMISSION CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br />RESOLUTION NO. PC-2002-60 <br />RESOLUTION RECOMMENDING APPROVAL OF THE APPLICATION OF THE <br />CITY OF PLEASANTON TO AMEND THE PLEASANTON MUNICIPAL CODE BY <br />ADDING A COMMERCIAL AND CIVIC GREEN BUILDING ORDINANCE, AS <br />FILED UNDER CASE PRZ-09 <br />WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton has filed an application to amend the Pleasanton Municipal <br />Code by adding an ordinance that would require new civic and commercial projects <br />over 20,000 squaze feet in size to incorporate green building measures from the U.S. <br />Green Building Council's LEED'"I (Leadership in Energy and Environmental <br />Design) Rating System; and <br />WHEREAS, at its meeting of September 25, 2002, the Planning Commission recommended <br />approval of the Negative Declazation prepared for the proposal; and <br />WHEREAS, at its duly noticed public hearing of September 25, 2002 the Planning Commission <br />considered all public testimony, relevant exhibits, and recommendations of the City <br />staff concerning the amendment to the Municipal Code; and <br />WHEREAS, the Planning Commission determined that the proposed Commercial and Civic <br />Green Building Ordinance would formalize the City's green building requirements <br />and define a process for review of green building plans. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />RESOLVES THE FOLLOWING: <br />Section 1. Recommends approval of Case PRZ-09, the applicafion of the City of Pleasanton to <br />amend the Pleasanton Municipal Code by adding an ordinance that would require <br />new civic and commercial projects over 20,000 square feet in size to incorporate <br />green building measures from the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED"" <br />(Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Rating System, as shown on <br />Exhibit "A," attached hereto and made part of this case by reference. <br />Section 2. Recommends that the Commercial and Civic Building Ordinance be reviewed in <br />one year. <br />Section 3. Recommends that City-Sponsored Projects strive fora "silver rating" in the U.S. <br />Green Building Council's LEEDr"' (Leadership in Energy and Environmental <br />Design) Rating System. <br />Section 4. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and adoption. <br />
