MINUTES O 1 CITY OF PLEASANTON REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING December 7, 2010 CALL TO ORDER Mayor Hosterman called the regular meeting to order at the hour of 7:00 p.m. Councilmember Cook - Kallio led the Pledge of Allegiance. ROLL CALL Present: Councilmembers Cook - Kallio, McGovern, Sullivan, Thorne, Mayor Hosterman Absent: None SPECIAL ITEMS 1. Adopt a resolution declaring the results of the November 2, 2010 General Municipal Election Motion: It was M/S by Cook- Kallio/Thorne to waive full reading and adopt Resolution No. 10-413 reciting the fact of the Consolidated General Municipal Election held on November 2, 2010 declaring the result and such other matters as provided by law. Motion carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmembers Cook - Kallio, McGovern, Sullivan, Thorne, Mayor Hosterman Noes: None Absent: None OATH OF OFFICE • Mayor -elect Jennifer Hosterman • Councilmember -elect Cheryl Cook - Kallio • Councilmember -elect Jerry Thorne REMARKS Mayor Hosterman thanked the public and her family for their support and work on her campaign. She said her focus for the corning two years remains the same -- to maintain the fiscal health of the community. She said she is grateful to her fellow mayors throughout the county, with whom she has been working on sorne great projects for job creation. One of the primary upcoming issues is pension reform and she encouraged the entire community to participate in the process. Councilmember Cook - Kallio reflected on the meaning of public service and the importance of community members being willing to put themselves out there for the betterment of all. She thanked all candidates for waging the campaign necessary for good government, and hoped that when she leaves office, she will have left Pleasanton a better city than a few years before. She extended her thanks to staff, for truly making a difference, and to her family and support network.
