rules of procedure for conducting its business and shall render all decisions and findings <br /> in writing to the appellant with a duplicate copy to the Building and Safety Official. <br /> Alternatively, the City may use Five (5) Building Official members of the East Bay <br /> Chapter of the International Code Council, chosen on a case -by -case basis, to serve as <br /> the Board of Appeals for the City of Pleasanton. The ICC East Bay Chapter, an <br /> organization of Building Officials, Building Inspectors, and Construction Industry <br /> personnel, was formed it 1947 to help maintain consistent and uniform code <br /> enforcement and code interpretation for our region. Building Officials from jurisdictions <br /> within Alameda, Contra Costa counties and neighboring counties are also members. <br /> Building Official members of the ICC East Bay Chapter are well versed in the technical <br /> and administrative provisions of construction codes. <br /> 204A.2 Limitations of Authority. The board of appeals shall have no authority <br /> relative to interpretation of the administrative provisions of this code or the <br /> administrative provisions of the technical codes nor shall the board be empowered to <br /> waive requirements of either this code or the technical codes. <br /> SECTION 205A — VIOLATIONS <br /> It shall be unlawful for a person, firm or corporation to erect, construct, enlarge, alter, <br /> repair, move, improve, remove, convert or demolish, equip, use, occupy or maintain any <br /> building, structure or building and /or property service equipment, or cause or permit the <br /> same to be done in violation of this code and the technical codes. Penalties for <br /> violations will be as provided in Section 1.12.020 of the Pleasanton Municipal Code. <br /> Chapter 3A <br /> PERMITS AND INSPECTIONS <br /> SECTION 301A - PERMITS <br /> 301A.1 Permits Required. Except as specified in Section 301A.2, any owner or <br /> authorized agent who intends to construct, enlarge, alter, repair, move, demolish, or <br /> change the occupancy of a building or structure, or to erect, install, enlarge, alter, repair, <br /> remove, convert or replace any electrical, gas, mechanical or plumbing system, the <br /> installation of which is regulated by this code, or to cause any such work to be done, <br /> shall first make application to the Building and Safety Official and obtain the required <br /> permit. <br /> 301A.2 Work Exempt from Permit. A permit shall not be required for the types of <br /> work in each of the separate classes of permit as listed below. Exemption from the <br /> permit requirements of this code shall not be deemed to grant authorization for any work <br /> to be done in violation of the provisions of the technical codes or any other laws or <br /> ordinances of this jurisdiction. <br /> 17 <br />
