HOUSING ELEMENT UPDATE TASK FORCE <br />REVISED DRAFT HOUSING ELEMENT <br />GOALS, POLICIES,AND PROGRAMS <br />1/28/2002, Revised <br />Housing Variety, Type, and Density <br />Goal 1: Attain a variety of housing sizes, types, densities, designs, and prices which meet the existing <br />and projected needs of all economic segments of the community. <br />Goa12• Fncourage residential densities capable of supporting affordable housing while taking into <br />account the character and development pattern of the surrounding area. <br />Note• Policies and Programs apply to all Goals within the applicable Section: <br />Policy 1: Maintain at least 25 percent of the total housing stock at full development as multiple- <br />family, both owner- and renter-occupied. <br />Program 1.1: Ensure that at least 25 percent of all residential development permits aze <br />allocated to multiple-family housing through the City's Growth Management Program as <br />long as level-of-service standazds and other City policies are maintained. <br />Policy 2: At a "":~^;ir.allT minimum, maintain the amount ofhigh-density residential acreage <br />currently designated on the General Plan Map. <br />_. ; <br />f + ~ + ~c '+ y * ~~~io ~ff .,~.,uA h~~=~r~sg- (Moved to Program 3.1) <br />Program 2.1: Discourage the redesignation of azeas designated for High Density <br />Residential. <br />Policy 3: Increase the midpoint of the General Plan High Density Residential density range to 20 <br />dwelling units per acre. <br />Program 3 1 Encourage densities of at least 20 units per acre• encourage develo <br />of at least 25 units per acre to enable affordable housing.
