<br />- <br /> <br />Commissioner Roberts noted that Randy's projects were alive and well, and would be <br />remembered in that respect. She added that he left a lot of big projects on the board. <br /> <br />Commissioner Sullivan noted that he had worked closely with Randy on the West Las <br />Positas Committee, and that he had attended every meeting. He also worked with him on <br />the Energy Advisory Group. He added that he usually talked with Randy when he had a <br />complaint about a Public Works issue. Randy was very open in listening to residents, and <br />was very fair, and did his best to resolve the issues. He believed that was the hallmark of <br />a public servant, and he appreciated Randy for those qualities. He said that he would miss <br />Randy. <br /> <br />Commissioner Kameny found Randy to be a real gentleman, a very personable <br />individual, and a real professional. He would be greatly missed for everything that he had <br />contributed. <br /> <br />2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> <br />Commissioner Sullivan noted that he had not been able to examine the minutes of <br />June 12,2002, and would pass on that item. He withdrew his request to consider those <br />minutes. <br /> <br />Commissioner Roberts advised that page 8, paragraph 9 should be changed to read, "In <br />r-. response to Commissioner Roberts' question whether the 16 duets were included in the <br />affordable housing count for the City's allotment. . ." The draft minutes stated that there <br />were 86 duets, and she did not believe that was correct. <br /> <br />Commissioners Roberts advised that page 15, paragraph 1 should be changed to read, <br />"Commissioner Roberts noted that it would be nice to have the senior housing spread <br />around the city so that it did not look like a retirement community in Florida." <br /> <br />Commissioner Sullivan advised that page 11, paragraph 3 should be changed to read, <br />"Commissioner Sullivan advised that he had been a member of the group that had <br />referended the first Ponderosa proposal, and he believed this was a refreshing alternative <br />to that experience. He believed that the City was at a turning point in the planning <br />process in Pleasanton. He believed that developers should be able to meet the needs of <br />the residents, as well as deal with the issues of the surrounding infrastructure and <br />sustainability. " <br /> <br />Commissioner Kameny inquired about Commissioner Arkin's statement of support of a <br />magnet or middle school on page 12, paragraph 1, and asked what a magnet school was. <br />Commissioner Arkin replied that the School District was contemplating two types of high <br />school: a comprehensive high school, and a magnet school with specialized programs <br />such as performing arts or science. <br /> <br />r- The minutes of June 26, 2002 were approved as amended. <br /> <br />PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES <br /> <br />July 10,2002 <br /> <br />Page 2 <br />
