The Commission <br />agreed that the additional 2-1/2- foot building height increase is acceptable. <br /> <br />There was consensus that the building clusters are acceptable in their general location and <br />relationship to each other. Commissioner Sullivan noted that he appreciates the solar orientation <br />of the buildings. <br /> <br />The Planning Commission agreed that the on-site circulation is acceptable. <br /> <br />Commissioner Sullivan advised that he would like to see the tree report and try to understand the <br />relationship of grading to the tree removal to determine if different grading can occur to <br />minimize tree removal. The Commission agreed with this. Commissioner Sullivan questioned <br />how the mitigation will be addressed for the trees that will be removed. <br /> <br />The Planning Commission agreed that the pavilion near the lake is not acceptable. <br />Commissioner Kameny noted that he would not have a problem with relocating the pavilion, but <br />he does not want to see any structure near the lake. Commissioner Maas noted that she <br />concurred. Commissioner Roberts stated that she feels a path is acceptable. Commissioner <br />Sullivan asked for clarification as to the City Council's direction. He noted that he would like to <br />see this area left as natural as possible. Commissioners Roberts and Arkin stated that they feel a <br />gazebo would be acceptable. <br /> <br />r- <br /> <br />Commissioner Kameny advised that he would support early site grading if all of the required <br />permits were in place. Commissioner Sullivan stated that he would like to understand what the <br />agreements are and what is in place for the City's protection once the grading begins. Mr. Otto <br />advised that in order to allow grading before project approval, a Code amendment would be <br />required. The Commission requested additional information regarding the process related to <br />allowing early site grading. <br /> <br />There was consensus that the buildings are appropriately designed, individually and as a cluster. <br />Commissioner Sullivan stated that he has some concern about the building color. Commissioner <br />Roberts and Chairperson Maas stated that they would like to see a darker color. <br /> <br />The Commission requested that a better photo simulation be provided depicting the focal point <br />from 1-680. <br /> <br />With regard to the design ofthe frontage along Sunol, Commissioner Arkin advised that he does <br />not like the wall and would prefer to see a higher berm. Chairperson Maas stated that she would <br />like to see trees planted in this area as soon as possible. In response to an inquiry from <br />Chairperson Maas, Mr. Grubstick advised that the improvements along Sunol Boulevard which <br />would extend northerly to Junipero are part of the CIP. Chairperson Maas noted that it would <br />make sense to continue the undergrounding of utilities to Junipero.
