PUBLIC HEARINGS (continued) <br /> <br />b. Review of Residential and Commercial Green Building Practices for the Bernal <br />Property. <br /> <br />r- <br /> <br />Mr. Pavan presented the staff report, noting that materials include information which pertain to <br />the residential and office development. He advised that this item is submitted for the Planning <br />Commission's information and no formal action is required, however, staff and the applicant <br />welcomes any comments, recommendations, or suggestions provided by the Planning <br />Commission. <br /> <br />THE PUBLIC HEARING WAS OPENED <br /> <br />COMMENTS FROM THE APPLICANT <br /> <br />Kevin Ebrahimi, 4340 Stevens Creek Blvd, Suite 240, San Jose CA 95129, advised that he <br />represents Bernal Investment. He noted that he was involved in working with Wendy Sommers <br />of the Alameda County Waste Management Authority in preparing the green building package <br />for the residential portion of the development. He noted that the program was finalized about <br />four months ago, with the exception of the issue related to the recycle of construction waste, <br />which has now been resolved with Pleasanton Garbage Service. <br /> <br />In response to an inquiry from Chairperson Sullivan, Mr. Ebrahimi advised that PGS has located <br />potential vendors to recycle materials. Ms. Seto commented that the construction waste <br />materials will be kept separate from other waste and PGS using different vendors to recycle the <br />materials. She also noted that the City is also working with PGS to development a commercial <br />demolition/debris recycling ordinance that will require that 50% of all construction debris be <br />diverted for recycling. She noted that this is part of the reason that there has been some delay, <br />but everything will be in place for this project. <br /> <br />Mr. Ebrahimi commented on the difficulties encountered in recycling on the job site, as well as <br />the cost-effectiveness ofrecycling. <br /> <br />r- <br /> <br />PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES <br /> <br />June 13,2001 <br /> <br />Page 9 <br />
