87
Mr. Joseph Callahan, Callahan Property Company, 5674
Stoneridge Drive, indicated that he had reviewed the Staff Report
and agreed with its recommendations. He proposed that with regard
to Condition No. 8, the selling price of all four moderate - income
units be based on the Oakland PMSA moderate - income level rather
than have them split between the Oakland PMSA and the Pleasanton
moderate- income levels.
Ms. Mohr commented that the idea of acquiring part or all of
the driveway at the back of the project to expand the landscaping
CO was a good one.
Mr. Callahan stated that he had offered to purchase that
Q portion of the site in exchange for creating a driveway that would
loop around the end of the shopping center. This would allow for
z the reconfiguration of the project and the incorporation of that
C unused area into the project. He added that he had also offered to
G acquire about 13 feet of the existing driveway to allow the
reconfiguration of the access point on Palomino Drive. He
indicated that he had not received any response from the owners,
who will be coming in from Taiwan next week.
Mr. Tarver pointed out that numerous residents on Bernal
Avenue have complained about the noise and traffic level. He
inquired if the height of the proposed four -feet wall which was
intended only to shield people seated on the patio from cars on
Bernal Avenue could be increased to act as a soundwall as well.
Mr. Callahan explained that the patios would be about five
feet above the sidewalk level, making the four -foot wall actually
equivalent to nine feet.
Mr. Butler inquired if there would be a direct pedestrian
access to the shopping center.
Mr. Callahan replied that part of his offer to acquire the
driveway included a request for an access point and an offer to
reconstruct the existing sidewalk to provide a direct access to the
shopping center.
Ms. Mindy Kane, 3679 Canelli Court, stated that the area is
composed of one- and two -story homes and townhouses and that it
would be out of character in the neighborhood to provide
substantially taller buildings. She said that it was her
understanding that Pleasanton allows only one- and two -story
buildings in the neighborhood and that this project would set a
precedent. She added that there already is a fair amount of high -
density units in the area and that she would like to see other
- 5 -
11 -6 -90
