Resolution No. 04 -019 <br /> Page 2 <br /> E. City -owned Public Facilities (City -owned structures such as the Pleasanton <br /> Library, Operation Services Center, 157 Main Street, Pleasanton Police <br /> Department, etc.). <br /> Section 2: Temporary Designation <br /> The Parks and Recreation Commission will designate a temporary name for all <br /> types of' parks or recreation facilities. The appropriate City commission (if <br /> applicable) will designate a temporary name for City -owned Public Facilities. <br /> Temporary naming will occur under the following conditions: <br /> A. At the request of the City Manager; or <br /> B. By the initiative of the appropriate City commission; or <br /> C. At the request of the City Council. <br /> Temporary names will have a hyphen and a capital T enclosed in parenthesis, such <br /> as Bernal Neighborhood Park -(T). <br /> Temporary names follow no special criteria, and are established for preliminary <br /> designation only. <br /> Section 3: Criteria for Establishing Permanent Names for Parks, Recreation Facilities, <br /> and other City-owned Public Facilities <br /> Names for all parks or recreation facilities should provide easy, recognizable <br /> reference for City residents and visitors. <br /> Requests to name any park, recreation facility, or other City -owned public facility <br /> after a specific individual will be considered no earlier than five years after the <br /> individual's death. <br /> A. Community Parks and Recreation Facilities — Community Parks shall be <br /> named: <br /> 1) For persons, events, or entities associated with major historical value or that <br /> have exerted positive influence in the development of Pleasanton; or <br /> 2) After natural features, such as plant or animal life; or <br /> 3) After cultural features, such as archaeological or paleontological resources; <br /> or <br /> 4) After topographic or geographic features. <br /> B. Neighborhood Parks — Neighborhood Parks shall be named: <br /> 1) After the neighborhood in which the park is located; or <br /> 2) After a street that borders the park; or <br /> 3) After the geographic or topographic location of the park. <br />
